Expanded Emergency Department Will Better Serve Ridley Park And Surrounding Pennsylvania Communities
Pennsylvania-based Crozer-Keystone Health System broke ground for a two-phase emergency department (ED) expansion project at Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park. The first-phase construction began on June 1, 2018, and will include a new waiting area, expanded registration and triage areas, and new high-visibility signage. The target for completion of this phase is November 2018.
The second phase of construction, with a completion target in 2019, will include additional exam rooms, a new nurses’ station, and private cubicles for patients who are waiting for test results. The project also includes the creation of a “rapid unit” to fast-track patients with less severe conditions.
“This expansion will give Taylor Hospital the ability to provide improved emergency care for families in Ridley Park and the surrounding neighborhoods,” said Joseph Rafferty, president of Taylor Hospital. “In addition to more spacious and comfortable facilities, this project will improve our patient experience.”
Historically, Taylor Hospital has treated approximately 28,100 patients in its ED annually. Rafferty estimates that the hospital will be able to accommodate up to 34,000 patients per year with the increased capacity.
Elsewhere in the Crozer-Keystone Health System, Springfield Hospital in Springfield is expanding its number of inpatient beds and improving access to services in order to improve patient experience and convenience.
